2009 AAPS Section Travelships
Section Travelship Application Form
Application Deadline: September 7 , 2009

The following sections are pleased to offer travelships for eligible individuals presenting papers at the AAPS 2009 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Los Angeles, California, November 8-12.

Available Section Travelships

APQ - 5 travelships at $750
Graduate/Undergraduate Students, and Post Docs eligible
BIOTEC - 5 travelships at $750
Graduate/Undergraduate Students and Post Docs eligible
CPTR - 5 travelships at $750
Graduate/Undergraduate Students, Post Docs and Junior Faculty eligible
DDD - 3 travelships at $500
Graduate/Undergraduate Students eligible
FDD - 3 travelships at $500
Graduate/Undergraduate Students and Post Docs eligible
MSE - 3 travelships at $750
Graduate/Undergraduate Students and Post Docs eligible
PPB - 3 travelships at $500
Graduate/Undergraduate Students and Post Docs eligible
PPDM - 6 travelships at $750
Graduate/Undergraduate Students, Post Docs and Junior Faculty eligible (see requirements below)
RS - 1 travelship at $750

Eligibility Requirements

Recipients will be selected from all applicants that meet the following eligibility requirements.

  1. Currently enrolled as a full-time student.
  2. First author of an accepted abstract.
  3. Have been a member of AAPS since at least January 2009 with membership in the section to which you are applying; (Note: Please make certain that your section is correctly identified in the AAPS database by contacting AAPS Membership at 1-877-998-2277.)

Only one abstract submission per section member will be considered for this award. The accepted abstract must be submitted with title, authors, and text, together with a complete online Travelship application form.

PPDM Section Eligibility Requirements
In addition to the general requirements listed above, the following apply:

  1. Multiple abstracts from one laboratory may be submitted, but only one award will be given to an individual laboratory.
  2. No more than two awards will be given to a single institution.

RS Section Eligibility Requirements
In addition to the general requirements listed above, the following apply:

  1. Preference will be given to students enrolled in RA/QA programs.

The deadline for all submissions is September 7 , 2009 . Applicants whose submitted papers are not accepted by the Paper Screening Committee will be removed from the eligible pool before the award selections are made.

Note: The reimbursement will be issued to the winning individuals following the Annual Meeting upon receipt of documented meeting expenses (e.g., copy of airline ticket, hotel receipt, meal estimates, etc.).


Modified Release Focus Group (MRFG) Travelship Awards

The Modified Release Focus Group (MRFG)is pleased to offer two travelships in the amount of $750 to eligible individuals presenting papers at the AAPS 2009 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Los Angeles, California, November 08 -12. The MRFG Travel Awards are funded by generous grant provided by Schering-Plough Consumer Healthcare.

Eligibility for MRFG Travelship Award
Recipients will be selected from all applicants that meet the following eligibility requirements.

  1. Currently enrolled as a full-time graduate student
  2. Primary author/main contributor with justification of an accepted abstract
  3. The applicant must be a member of AAPS since January of the year when the application is submitted, with membership in the MRFG at the time of application
  4. Recipient must be present at the MRFG business meeting to receive the award. (Otherwise, award will go to the next finalist).
  5. To support more students to present at the AAPS meetings, MRFG Travelship Award is a one time award, previous winners will be excluded from selection process
MRFG Travelship Award Application Procedure and Selection Criteria
In addition to the general requirements listed above, the following apply:
  1. Primary Selection criteria – The presented work needs to be above average work making a significant contribution in the Modified/Controlled/Prescriptive Release field. NOTE: The body of work should not extend to more than one Poster/Presentation. Multiple posters will not be considered for the award
  2. Complete online Travelship application form (available at the AAPS Website), including the abstract/presentation with title, authors, and text; together with a supporting letter and a detailed explanation by the advisor on the impact of the presented work to the field of Modified/Controlled/Prescriptive Release
  3. MRFG Award sub-committee will perform the selection by the following:
    • Pre-screen applications together with applicant's abstract already accepted by the AAPS screening committees
    • Invite applicants on the short list to submit a draft or the full poster presentation in electronic file format (if available at the time short list candidates are notified)
    • Make final selections (including the full poster presentations if available) form applicants on the short list
  4. Only one abstract/presentation submission per applicant will be considered for this award.
  5. Multiple abstracts from one University/School may be submitted, but only one award will be given to an individual Institution each year.
  6. No more than one award will be given to a single Research Group and/or advisor in the same year.

2009 Amgen Travelships
Amgen Travelship Application Form
Application Deadline: September 7, 2009

Amgen is pleased to offer travelships for eligible individuals presenting papers at the 2009 AAPS Annual Meeting & Exposition, November 8-12, in Los Angeles, California. Twenty Travelships are available at $500 for Graduate/Undergraduate students.

Recipients will be selected from all the applicants meeting the following eligibility requirements.

  1. Be currently enrolled as a full-time student.
  2. Have a paper accepted by one of the eight AAPS sections for presentation at the 2009 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition which the student will be presenting.
  3. Have been a member of AAPS since at least January 2009 .
  4. Have no other means of supplemental support to attend the meeting.
  5. Be traveling more than 200 miles (one way from his/her academic institution to attend the meeting).

Individuals meeting the criteria for the travelship application must complete the online form at http://www.aapspharmaceutica.com/amgentravelships. Applications must be received at AAPS by September 7, 2009.

Applicants whose submitted papers are not accepted by the Paper Screening Committee will be removed from the eligible pool before the award selections are made. Applicants are only allowed to accept one travelship to the AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition.

2009 AstraZeneca Travelships
AstraZeneca Travelship Application Form
Application Deadline: September 7, 2009

AstraZeneca is pleased to offer travelships for eligible individuals presenting papers at the 2009 AAPS Annual Meeting & Exposition, November 8-12, in Los Angeles, California. Ten travelships are available at $500 for graduate/undergraduate students.

Recipients will be selected from all the applicants meeting the following eligibility requirements.

  1. Be currently enrolled as a full-time student.
  2. Have a paper accepted by one of the eight AAPS sections for presentation at the 2009 annual meeting which the student will be presenting.
  3. Have been a member of AAPS since at least January 2009.
  4. Have no other means of supplemental support to attend the meeting.

2009 AAPS Lipid-Based Drug Delivery Student Travelships sponsored by Gattefossé
Lipid Based Drug Delivery Travelship Application Form
Application Deadline: September 7, 2009

Gattefossé is pleased to offer travelships for eligible individuals presenting papers at the 2009 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition to be held on November 8-12 in Los Angeles, CA. The offer consists of:

  • 2 Travelships at $500 for Graduate/Undergraduate Students presenting papers pertaining to Lipid Based Drug Delivery

Eligibility criteria:
Recipients will be selected from all applicants that meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Currently enrolled as a full-time student.
  2. Member of AAPS since January 2009 or earlier
  3. First author of an accepted abstract pertaining to Lipid Based formulations / delivery.
  4. Have the paper accepted by one of the nine AAPS sections for presentation at the 2009 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition to be held in Los Angeles, CA which the student will be presenting.
  5. Have no other means of supplemental support to attend the meeting.
  6. Must be present at the LBDDFG annual business meeting (date to be announced) in Los Angeles, California to receive the award.

Selection criteria:
Applicants whose submitted papers are not accepted by the Paper Screening Committee will be removed from the eligible pool before the award selections are made.

An Award sub-committee assigned by LBDD FG chair will perform the selection as follows:

  • Pre-selection of abstracts already accepted by the AAPS screening committees for relevance to Lipid Based Drug Delivery
  • Make final selection from the short list.

Reimbursement
